How do you value your hand?

There are many different methods that are used to evaluate a hands playing strength. Most commonly high card points are used but many people also add on bits and pieces to adjust for shape, location of points or other factors.

When valuing your hand which of the methods do you use? Feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

For a bit of fun you might like to try out the Kaplan and Rubens hand evaluator. You can enter a bridge hand and it adjusts it’s value based on shape and location of the points. Find it here http://www.jeff-goldsmith.org/cgi-bin/knr.cgi
