Does player behaviour need to be more regulated?

Bridge is a funny old game. In most competitive activities you don’t really need to interact with your opponents. In bridge you have to sit within a metre of your oppos, divulge your bidding code and you need to call over an official rather than just have one supervise the game automatically. These are all things that can lead to situations becoming heated at the table and that is before we consider partnerships that can’t seem to play a single hand without having it out at each other.

Incidents at the table are one of the things that can easily turn people off the game and stop newer players in their tracks while they are learning.

Does player behaviour need to be better regulated and what body gets this responsibility?
